The Centre for Ethnic Health Research (CEHR) proudly took part in a sponsored bra and pants walk earlier this month to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Now and PROSTaid.
Organised by the Bradgate Rotary Club, the three-mile walk took place on Sunday, January 11, through Bradgate Park and brought together supporters from across the community.
Representing the CEHR, community engagement officer, Gurpreet Grewal-Santini walked alongside members of the Birstall Prostate Cancer Support Group, which provides vital support to individuals living with prostate cancer and to those close to them.
As part of its ongoing work to make prostate cancer research more inclusive, the CEHR has been working closely with the local support group and was delighted to stand alongside its members during the ‘Freeze Your Bits and Bobs’ sponsored bra and pants walk.
Gurpreet said: “It was inspiring to see so many people come together for such an important cause, despite the cold weather.
“Taking part in events like this helps us strengthen connections with local communities, raise awareness of key health issues and support initiatives that make a real difference to people’s lives.”
The Centre for Ethnic Health Research works in close partnership with local communities and organisations, actively supporting and participating in community-led initiatives.
The ‘Freeze Your Bits and Bobs’ sponsored bra and pants walk has already raised more than £3,400, with donations still coming in.
