Leicester Real World Evidence Unit
About LRWEU
Leicester Real World Evidence Unit, headed up by Professor Kamlesh Khunti, works with clinical, academic and industrial investigators to design and deliver bespoke high-quality real-world evidence studies.
LRWE Unit services include pragmatic trials to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions in real-life routine practice conditions, data harmonisation across countries and cohorts, systematic review and meta-analyses, facilitation of statistical training and resources, and bespoke statistical analyses.
LRWE Unit has a Multi-Study Licence agreement with the Secretary of State for Health to use Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD). The CPRD contains anonymised longitudinal medical records of more than 14.6 million patients registered from more than 700 contributing general practices in the UK, making it representative of the population.
Researchers can request CPRD linked data from the LRWE Unit. Three different work packages are offered, based on the level of work to be carried out by the LRWE team. This can include obtaining approvals, conducting a full analysis with report, and extraction of the raw CPRD data.
