We are looking for people living with kidney disease or carers for individuals with kidney disease from different ethnic groups to help us with our research project.
Our study looks at how we can improve the treatment of people living with kidney disease from different ethnic groups.
We are looking to understand better:
- How people living with kidney disease understand their condition
- How we diagnose kidney disease
- How people feel about the risk of kidney disease
- How we can best tell people about kidney disease about the condition.
Our study is funded by the UK Department of Health (National Institute for Health and Care Research, NIHR).
We are looking for:
- Adults aged over 18 years
- From any miniority ethnic background (e.g. South Asian, Black Caribbean, or African
- People diagnosed with: kidney disease by their GP or hospital doctor, or diabetes or high blood pressure
- We are also looking for carers of people living with kidney disease
We are looking for people to join our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Advisory Network
This network will help advise on different aspects of the project as and when needed. This could be reading through information sheets, interview questions, or helping decide the best way to discuss the results. These tasks could range from 30 minutes to 1 hour. We will add your name to the network and we will invite people to take part in different tasks as and when needed. You can choose which ones you would like to do.
You can contribute as much or as little as you feel able over a period of 17 months (June 2024 to October 2025).
Your participation is important to help us better understand how we improve the care of individuals with kidney disease, and we look forward to hearing from you. Together, let’s continue making a positive impact to improve health care.
You will receive reimbursement via vouchers for your time and any travel expenses if you are required to travel to meetings etc.
If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Krishna Patel at kp401@leicester.ac.uk
