Type 2 diabetes risk score
The Risk Score in Bengali, Gujarati or Punjabi and Urdu
Recommended by NICE and used by Diabetes UK, the Leicester Diabetes self-assessment Risk Score was developed to help identify those who are at risk of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Now known as the Risk Score, the evidence-based survey consists of several simple questions related to age, gender, ethnicity, family history, waist measurement and blood pressure. It uses a points system to identify if a person is at low, moderate, increased, or high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Having recognised that Leicester, and indeed many parts of the country, are ethnically and culturally diverse, the survey has since been translated into a number of South Asian languages. The Risk Score is now available in Gujarati, Bengali, Bangladeshi, Urdu and Punjabi.

Increasing Participation Of Black & Asian Minority Ethnic Groups In Health And Social Care Research
Black and Asian Minority Ethnic groups make up about 13% of the population of the United Kingdom and are forecast to increase significantly in the coming decades. Also, they are more likely to suffer from poorer health outcomes and health and social care inequalities in general. However, they are much less likely to be represented in health and social care research studies.
This resource and accompanying Toolkit aims to capture best practice and provide researchers with a framework on how to improve the participation of BAME groups in research.

Ageing in Places
Exploring social infrastructure that enables Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities to age in place
This project sought to understand how BAME-led organisations
within Leicester city (Belgrave, Spinney Hills and Wycliffe
local authority wards) engage with members from their
communities and how this might have changed over time. It also
explored how individuals from BAME communities use places,
organisations and services for social contact and interaction.*
