Recruiting participants for research from ethnic minority communities can be difficult and time-consuming. The limited access to ethnic groups can greatly impact on the ability to successfully recruit participants into a study and potentially leads to less robust results because recruitment targets have been achieved.
While approaching participants from ethnic minority communities, it is really important that any recruitment strategies are culturally adapted to the needs of potential participants.
The Centre for Ethnic Health Research can assist with identifying the best practices for engagement and recruitment with specific ethnic minority groups, linking with community organisations, and identifying cohorts of potential participants against inclusion and exclusion criteria.
