Volunteers are being sought by a local charity to raise awareness and support people at risk of losing their sight.
Vista is the leading local charity working with children and adults with sight loss in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and it is currently recruiting Sight Loss Volunteer Advisors.
The role involves providing practical advice, guidance, identifying individual needs and signposting accordingly, along with offering emotional support to people who have been diagnosed with sight loss or maybe at the risk of losing their sight across the area.
It would cover hospitals and the community, including health centres, GP surgeries, opticians, libraries, community centres, leisure centres and council buildings.This will promote the independence and increase their confidence.
In return volunteers would be fully trained, have the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and develop professional networks. Reasonable expenses will be paid.
